Madhavaram (Assembly Constituency No. 9), is located in North Chennai along the Inner Ring Road and the Grand Northern Trunk corridor, and is among the city’s rapidly urbanising constituencies. Its growth has been driven by major transport links, high-density residential development and logistics-related activity. The constituency is widely identified with the Madhavaram Integrated Bus Terminus (MIBT), one of the largest bus terminals in Asia, and the historic Madhavaram Dairy, closely linked to Chennai’s Aavin milk supply.
Persistent local issues include severe traffic congestion in and around the MIBT, flooding and waterlogging during the monsoon, inadequate stormwater drainage systems, drinking water scarcity in summer months, gaps in solid waste management and sanitation, poor condition of interior roads, and rising air and noise pollution levels.Tamil Nadu went to polls on April 23.
