Tripura cops bust cross-border drug ring, 2 held

Tripura Police, acting on a tip, successfully busted a drug smuggling operation in the Sepahijala district, arresting Idris Mia and Monura Khatun. The raid on a residence in UNC Nagar, Fakiradula, led to the seizure of narcotics worth approximately Rs 13 lakh, including syrup bottles and Yaba tablets.

Agartala: In a decisive late-night operation, Tripura Police dismantled a significant drug smuggling operation, seizing narcotics valued at approximately Rs 13 lakh and arresting two suspects in the Sepahijala district.Acting on a tip-off, Sonamura Police Station officials raided a residence in UNC Nagar, Fakiradula, uncovering 100 bottles of syrup and 600 grams of Yaba tablets, cleverly concealed in a bundle.The suspects, identified as Idris Mia, 60, and Monura Khatun, 56, were promptly taken into custody. During initial questioning, the pair admitted that the contraband was intended for smuggling into Bangladesh, revealing a cross-border drug trafficking network.Tapas Das, OC of Sonamura Police Station, confirmed that a case has been registered under the NDPS Act. The accused have been presented in court, with police seeking their remand for further investigation. Authorities are now tracing the supply chain involved in the smuggling operation, with efforts underway to apprehend additional suspects linked to the network.
