Students conduct science session for underprivileged children
Delhi Public School, sector 45, Gurugram, has expanded its community learning outreach through a series of science workshops conducted for children at its Shiksha Kendra, the school’s initiative that offers free, non-formal education to underprivileged students from nearby areas.
The workshops were led by the school’s Redshift (Physics) Club, which organised two hands-on sessions titled ‘The Wonders of Light’ and ‘The Invisible Forces.’ Students explored key physics concepts — including reflection, refraction, electrostatics and magnetic levitation — through live demonstrations designed to make scientific principles accessible and engaging.
According to school officials, the sessions aimed to break socio-economic barriers in learning by providing exposure to interactive, experiment-based science education. The initiative is part of the school’s broader effort to promote inquiry-driven learning in line with its motto, “Service Before Self.”
The Shiksha Kendra currently supports children from neighbouring communities, extending academic assistance and skill-based learning opportunities. The recent workshops, teachers said, helped boost confidence and curiosity among participants, many of whom were introduced to such concepts for the first time.
