Visakhapatnam: Timely investigation by the Anakapalle district police has turned a case that was earlier registered as a suspicious death into a pre-planned murder for gain. And based on a probe and confession of the suspect, the Kasimkota police arrested a woman for killing her aunt.
The accused was identified as Simma Satya, a native of Koppaka locality under Anakapalle mandal, and the victim was 85-year-old D Nagamma. The police said Nagamma, who was alone, was found dead in Kasikota on May 16. The police registered a case of suspicious death and waited for the autopsy report to intensify the investigation. The post-mortem report revealed that Nagamma was strangled to death.
The investigation has revealed that Satya used to visit her aunt Nagamma. As she has been facing financial distress, Satya asked Nagamma for financial support. When the elderly woman refused, Satya decided to eliminate her to steal her gold ornaments.
As per the plan, Satya visited Kasimkota on May 16, strangled Nagamma to death with a cloth and took away her gold ornaments and fled from the house. The locals found Nagamma dead the next day. Based on the concrete clue, the police nabbed Satya, who confessed to the crime. The police also recovered the stolen gold chain from the accused.
