Visakhapatnam: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel rescued an abandoned 5-month-old boy found in an auto-rickshaw at Visakhapatnam railway station on Tuesday morning. After hours of investigation, the Kancharapalem police identified the boy's mother and reunited them.
According to reports, an auto driver noticed a baby crying inside a parked auto-rickshaw near the parcel office at platform number 8 at the railway station and alerted the RPF personnel. Sub-inspector V Keerthi Reddy and her team rushed to the spot and rescued the baby. They also found a bag containing a bank passbook in the auto-rickshaw. Later, the child welfare department took action, and the baby was shifted to KG Hospital for treatment.

To trace the origins of the abandoned baby, the Kancharapalem police, along with the RPF personnel, examined the CCTV footage from the station premises. The footage showed a woman carrying the baby boy before exiting the station. This woman was identified as Sravani, the mother of the baby boy (Charvik Krishna), and a resident of the Anandapuram locality in Vizag.
The police located Sravani near the RTC complex.
The investigation revealed that Sravani, along with her husband Arjun and their child Krishna, had gone to Vijayawada for their livelihood and were staying in a rented house. However, there were disputes between Sravani and Arjun. When the trio returned to Vizag on a train from Vijayawada, Arjun got down at Duvvada and left the spot without informing Sravani. Sravani, along with her son, reached Vizag railway station, and she decided to abandon her son, citing that she was unable to manage. Later, she kept her son in an auto-rickshaw, expecting that someone would adopt him and then fled the spot.
