Tirupati: An elderly farmer who was kidnapped near the revenue divisional office at Dharmavaram in Sri Sathya Sai district, was rescued by the police on Friday. According to Dharmavaram I town circle inspector Nagendra Prasad, Musunuru Narayana Swamy, a resident of Kammavari Palli has a land dispute with Nandyala Narayana Swamy and his family since 1977. When both the aggrieved parties were leaving the RDO office after meeting the revenue officials, Nandyala Narayana Swamy’s son Ravi and his five other accomplices kidnapped Musunuru Narayanaswamy in their SUV and forced him to sign on promissory notes worth ₹50 lakh as Narayanaswamy refused to part with his land in dispute.
Following a timely alert from the kin of the victim, Dharmavaram CI and his team intercepted the vehicle and rescued Narayanaswamy. Police took Nandyala Ravi and his five other accomplices into their custody. Dharmavaram I town police registered a case and are investigating.
