AP reels under intense heatwave, no relief in sight
Visakhapatnam Port Authority has deployed a Water Fogging/Mist Cannon vehicle, the fogging operation will be carried out in view of the prevailing heat wave conditions at beach road stretch in Visakhapatnam on Monday.
Visakhapatnam: There seemed to be no respite from the heat wave conditions that have been continuing for the past one week at most of the places in Andhra Pradesh. There was no significant drop in the temperatures at most places despite the thunderstorm activity. Residents may expect no respite from the prevailing conditions for at least a week.Parts of AP experienced searing heat on Monday with the maximum temperatures settling between 40 degrees Celsius and 45°C on Monday. Bapatla, Gannavaram, Jangamaheswarapuram , Amaravati and Machilipatnam reeled under heatwave conditions on Monday while remaining parts of the state experienced hot, humid and most discomfort weather conditions.As per the IMD Jangamaheswarapuram in Palnadu district was the hottest place in Andhra Pradesh on Monday at 45.5 degrees Celsius each, followed by Bapatla at 45.4°C, Gannavaram at 45°C, Amaravati 44.9°C, Machilipatnam at 44.2°C,, Nandigama at 44.1°C. The remaining locations in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema regions in the state experienced searing heat with the maximum temperature settling between 35°C and 42°C.
According to Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA), the state continues to reel heatwave conditions as the day temperatures went past 44°C in 14 districts on Monday, with Kankipadu in Krishna district recorded 48.1 °C, , followed by 46.4°C at Kuchinapudi in Bapatla district, 46.3°C each at Ibrahimpatnam (NTR) and Piduguralla (Palnadu).The IMD forecast that severe heatwave conditions are likely in parts of the Prakasam, Palnadu, Bapatla , Guntur, Krishna, WEst Godavari and Konaseema on May 26 and 27 and the remaining districts of the coastal Andhra Pradesh will experience heat wave like conditions. On May 28, more than 13 districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh will experience severe heatwave conditions.The weather agency stated that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema regions from May 26 to 28. The conditions are favorable for further advance of southwest monsoon into some more parts of southwest and southeast Arabian Sea, Comorin Area, southwest, southeast and east central Bay of Bengal and remaining parts of Andaman Sea during the next two to three days.
