Vijayawada: The AP High Court on Wednesday directed the state govt to submit details in the PIL seeking to direct officials to ply buses from the bus station at Mummidivaram. YSRCP MLC Kudipudi Suryanarayana Rao moved the High Court, contending that buses are not plying from the bus station because of encroachments on the main road.
Arguing on behalf of the petitioner, Bokka Satyanarayana told the court that urban local body officials failed to remove the encroachments en route to the bus station. Due to these encroachments, buses are unable to enter the bus station, rendering it useless for the past five years, he pointed out, adding that people are facing severe problems boarding the buses as they are forced to wait on the roadside.
The HC bench headed by Chief Justice Lisa Gill and Justice N Jayasurya asked whether bus shelters were available on the road and if any proposals were there to relocate the bus station. Satyanarayana said there was no bus shelter on the road and passengers were made to suffer from the vagaries of nature.
Stating that the civic body is taking steps to remove the encroachments, the govt pleader sought time to submit details. Considering the submissions, the High Court asked the respondents to file counters. However, the court declined to issue notices to local MLA D Bucchiraju and MP Gunti Harish Mathur, who were included as respondents in the petition, and told the petitioner not to do politics with the PIL.
