AP govt dismisses secretariat employees’ association leader for poll code violation
Vijayawada: The govt on Monday dismissed Kakarla Venkata Rami Reddy, former president of AP Secretariat Employees Association, for violating the Model Code of Conduct by campaigning for a political party during the 2024 general elections.Rami Reddy, a section officer and assistant secretary (in-charge) in the panchayat raj and rural development dept, was given the maximum punishment for code violation, following a departmental inquiry that found the charges to be true. It was alleged that he participated in an election campaign in favour of YSRCP while in service. He also reportedly held meetings with RTC employees at depots in Badvel, Mydukur, Proddatur, and Kapada in YSR Kadapa district. The allegations were reported by the district election officer and collector of YSR Kadapa.He was placed under suspension in April 2024 for service rules violation and a charge memo was issued seeking an explanation. The collector and district magistrate of Kadapa conducted a regular inquiry and submitted a report in April 2025. After examining the inquiry report and representations submitted by Rami Reddy, the govt decided to impose the penalty of dismissal and sought the concurrence of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission. As the APPSC agreed with the proposed punishment, the state govt issued a GO dismissing him from service with immediate effect.
