Andhra Pradesh man seeks traffic challan details to ‘assess’ future son-in-law’s character
Kakinada: In an innovative move, a 55-year-old man looking to get his daughter married approached the traffic police in Kakinada to ‘assess’ his future son-in-law’s character by seeking to know if the would-be groom has any traffic challans pending in his name.He asked the traffic cops if he was involved in any kind of violation — be it drunk driving, driving without seat belt or helmet, etc. He also gave details of his prospective son-in-law’s car and bike numbers to the cops.Amused by the father’s caring nature towards his daughter, the traffic inspector on duty at Bhanugudi junction in Kakinada immediately got everything checked from the traffic control room and gave the would-be groom a clean chit. The father was informed that no challan was registered against his future son-in-law’s car or bike, nor did he violate any traffic rules as per records.Speaking to TOI, traffic inspector Daneti Rama Rao said the father was clear that the person who would marry his daughter should be a disciplined and law-abiding citizen, and had come to the conclusion that his character, as well as his behaviour, could be assessed through his traffic records.
“He had lost his wife several years ago and raised his daughter alone with love and care. Despite facing hardships, he ensured that his daughter received the best of education, which she did by clearing her BTech. He wants his son-in-law to ensure that his daughter gets the same kind of love and care after marriage,” Rama Rao said, adding that the concerned father returned home relieved after the traffic cops gave a clean chit to his prospective son-in-law.
