Andhra Pradesh liquor scam: SIT questions Jagan Mohan Reddy’s former PA for second consecutive day, suspects nexus with key accused
Vijayawada: The special investigation team (SIT) probing the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam questioned K Nageswara Reddy (KNR), former personal assistant to YSRCP chief and former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, for the second consecutive day over his alleged links to the multi-crore scam. The SIT suspects that KNR acted as a crucial link between key accused in the liquor scam and influential political circles during the previous YSRCP regime. Investigators questioned him extensively regarding suspicious financial transactions, alleged benami investments, and properties accumulated between 2019 and 2024.According to sources, the SIT found that liquor scam accused Chevireddy Bhaskara Reddy and his son Mohit Reddy allegedly registered 10 acres of land in Tirupati district in the name of KNR’s wife Sasikala through KVR Infra. Though official records reportedly showed the land value at ₹8 lakh per acre, investigators suspect the actual market value runs into several crores and believe the transaction may have been part of liquor kickbacks.Officials also identified deposits of nearly ₹19.85 crore into Sasikala’s bank accounts during the YSRCP govt's tenure. During questioning, SIT officers sought explanations regarding the source of the funds, which investigators suspect included proceeds linked to liquor bribes. The SIT also examined KNR’s alleged investments in a car showroom near Vijayawada, multiple flats in Hyderabad, Tirupati, Bengaluru, and Vijayawada, along with land purchases in Prakasam district.
Investigators are also probing a software company allegedly floated by KNR and his wife in the name of a relative based in the United States.KNR was questioned for over nine hours on Wednesday and again summoned on Thursday after allegedly giving evasive replies to several questions. Officials are trying to establish how a person who reportedly earned a modest salary before 2019 could accumulate assets worth crores within five years.
