Vijayawada: Amaravati's road network is being pushed onto a fast track, but the urgency now goes beyond routine infrastructure — it is about shaping the capital's first impression. At the heart of this push is a crucial junction near Venkatapalem, emerging as a gateway to the capital region. The state govt has accelerated development works at the E.3-N.4 junction near Venkatapalem village, a key entry point to Amaravati, with the Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) setting tight deadlines for completion.
Reviewing the works, ADC chairperson Lakshmi Parthasaradhi Bhaskar directed officials to complete the junction development on a war footing. "The E.3-N.4 junction is a critical access point to the capital. With increasing public movement towards Amaravati, the works must be completed immediately and made fully functional," she said.
The junction connects the Seed Access Road (E.3) with the N.4 road linking Navuluru and Venkatapalem, making it vital for both administrative and public traffic. Officials have been instructed to take up bitumen (BT) works within a week and prepare the stretch for smooth vehicular movement.
As part of the broader infrastructure push, Lakshmi Parthasaradhi Bhaskar also reviewed desilting works of Kondaveeti Vagu and Palavagu, which intersect the Vijayawada West Bypass. She stressed coordination with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to expedite clearance works near Venkatapalem and Yerrabalem villages to prevent waterlogging and ensure uninterrupted road connectivity.
At another key site on NH-16 near the DGP office, she inspected the E.13 extension works and flagged safety concerns. Officials were directed to level dug-up service road portions and lay proper berms to eliminate accident risks and ensure seamless traffic flow.
The ADC chief also visited ongoing development works near HOD Towers, where channel improvement of Palavagu and Peram Vagu is underway. With construction activity intensifying in the capital region, she reviewed plans to divert water flows towards the E.5 road corridor to avoid flooding at work sites.
Meanwhile, works at the E.3-N.4 junction are already progressing at pace. BT works were completed for a 300-metre stretch on Monday alone. Construction has also begun on extending connectivity from N.4 towards E.4, further strengthening the internal road grid. Officials said the accelerated execution aligns with the vision of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to rapidly build core infrastructure in Amaravati and improve access to the capital region. ADC executive engineers K Basaveswara Rao and V Padmakar Prasad, along with other engineering staff, participated in the inspection.
