Vibrant Holi colours take over Kashi as city dives into festivities
Varanasi: Colours, music and laughter filled the air of Kashi as thousands celebrated Holi on Wednesday.
While people celebrated in their own style, foreign tourists also soaked in the festive spirit with many thronging the city ghats. Several were seen participating in the festival at Godowlia, Chetganj, and other crossings and danced to loud DJ music.
People were also seen taking selfies with foreign tourists indulging in Holi revelry. Grand celebrations were also evident at Kashi Vishwanath Dham, where temple officials and staff played Holi with flower petals, showering them on devotees thronging the temple to offer prayers.
After ensuring the peaceful and safe conclusion of the Holi festival, the men-in-khaki also indulged in celebrations in all districts of the Varanasi zone. In districts like Ghazipur, fire tenders were called to Police Lines campuses to shower colour.
In Varanasi, the cops celebrated Holi at the Police Lines and the Commissioner of Police's residence, where CP Mohit Agrawal and District Magistrate Satyendra Kumar played colours and gulal with other officials. A confluence of music, folk songs, and dance was witnessed, in which police personnel participated enthusiastically, making the atmosphere joyful. CP said that Holi is a festival of love, brotherhood, and social harmony, which gives the message of strengthening mutual goodwill and unity in society.
