Quack arrested, 2 hosps sealed after patient dies in Azamgarh
Varanasi: Bardah police in Azamgarh sealed two hospitals run by a quack and arrested him on Friday, following the death of a 32-year-old woman from alleged improper treatment.Police said that Chandrasen Yadav ran Om Sai Ram Hospital without any medical qualification, while his son operated Usha Eye Care Centre after completing a B.Pharma degree, said Azamgarh CO Lalganj Bhupesh Pandey. An FIR for culpable homicide was lodged, and Chandrasen was arrested.On Thursday night, Surendra Bind of Khamhauli village under Bardah police station filed a complaint stating that after his wife, Poonam, fell ill in the evening, he rushed her to Yadav’s hospital in Muktipur. Despite her condition worsening, Yadav did not refer her to a higher centre.Taking note of the incident, the CMO sent a team led by Additional CMO Dr. Uma Sharan Pandey to inspect hospitals in Muktipur Bazar. After reviewing the inspection report, the CMO ordered both of Yadav’s hospitals sealed. Poonam’s body was sent for a postmortem. “Further investigation is underway,” the CO added.
