Chandauli MP says BHU hosp facilities not being utilised, seeks probe
Varanasi: Samajwadi Party MP from Chandauli Virendra Singh on Sunday visited Padma Vibhushan awardee and PM Narendra Modi's proposer Pt Chhannulal Mishra who is admitted to the ICU of superspeciality block of SSL Hospital of BHU.During his visit, he took stock of the facilities and claimed that despite vacant beds, the hospital authorities were denying ICU beds to patients. Singh also wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi drawing his attention to the issue and requested an investigation into the matter. The MP mentioned that following all necessary protocols he went inside the ICU where Pt Chhannulal Mishra was under treatment. "Finding more than half of the beds vacant, I tried to know the reason for it from the ICU in-charge. However, he could not give a satisfactory response," he said."It is disappointing to note that whenever public representatives request ICU admission for a patient based on doctors' advice, they receive the response that no beds are available," he said. He requested the PM to take note of the issue and issue directives to improve the system, as BHU's hospital was built with public money, yet the facilities were not fully utilised. "Negligence and work style of doctors suggest that corruption is rampant in the hospital. A high-level investigation is necessary to rectify the problems," he said.
