CBFC delay and court talk

The film is also facing problems in India. 'Jana Nayagan' is still waiting for certification from the CBFC. There are reports of suggested cuts, and many people are calling it a “political vendetta.” According to earlier updates, there were not many corrections suggested by the Censor Board. The revised version was already sent back to the committee. Ideally, the certificate should have been issued by now. Because of the delay there are also reports saying the makers might approach the court if the certificate does not come on time.

Theatre owners speak out

Recently, Tiruppur Subramaniam, President of the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association, spoke openly about the issue. said the makers of Jana Nayagan are asking for 75% to even 80% of the theatre collection.
Talking to Puthiya Thalaimurai, Subramaniam recalled that for Vijay’s earlier film 'GOAT', the sharing was 75:25. He said this caused losses for theatre owners. He believes a 50:50 or 60:40 sharing model is better for everyone.

Ticket money and strong words

Explaining the problem clearly, he said, "Jana Nayagan has a 60% audience and Parasakthi has a 40% audience. Jananayakan has a 75% audience and Parasakthi has a 80% audience. A ticket costs Rs.190 and tax is Rs.42. If they charge 75% of the remaining amount, we will get only Rs.37 for a ticket."He asked, "Do we need to run a theatre? Can we pay salaries? Can we pay EB bills? What can we do?" Subramaniam added, "We haven't asked them to pay 40% or 30%. We are ready to pay up to 70%. But they are asking us to pay 75% or 80% in a place like Tirunelveli." He also said, "What will we get in return? What is the use of paying that money?"Talking about bookings, Subramaniam said, "They are asking for 75% or even 80%. That's why the booking is very slow. There is no other reason." He clearly said this is purely business and not due to any political pressure.'Jana Nayagan' is directed by H. Vinoth. The film stars Vijay along with Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, and others. Made on a huge budget of Rs 400 crore, the movie is said to be Vijay’s last film before he fully enters politics in Tamil Nadu.
