Amid wedding preps, two borrowed LPG cylinders stolen
Varanasi: He had struggled hard to arrange LPG cylinders by borrowing from his relatives and friends to meet the fuel requirements for the wedding ceremony at his home. However, Ratan Patel suffered a severe blow when two refills were stolen by thieves from his house in Nasirpur area under Chitaipur police station on Saturday night.“We checked CCTV footage of Patel’s home. It is clear that two thieves stole cylinders and fled the scene in an autorickshaw,” said SK Gautam from Chitaipur police station on Monday. After receiving Patel’s complaint, efforts are being made to arrest those thieves at the earliest, he added.Patel said that a wedding function is scheduled at his home at month-end. As there is strict rationing of LPG, he had arranged refills by borrowing them from his relatives. He had kept two refills in the outer portion of his house in Narisrpur Susuwahi. When he and other family members woke up on Sunday morning, they found two refills missing.When they checked the CCTV footage of the house and adjoining buildings, they found that around 3am on Saturday-Sunday, two persons reached there in an autorickshaw and after stealing both cylinders, they boarded the same vehicle and fled the scene.The CCTV footage was given to police with the complaint by Patel. Police said that the process to ascertain the identity of the thieves was intensified and they will be nabbed soon.
