Vet dies by suicide at hospital

Trichy: A 32-year-old govt veterinarian died by suicide at a veterinary hospital near Trichy on Tuesday, reportedly due to depression. The deceased, A Prakash, a native of Adaikampatti in Perambalur district, was employed at the government veterinary hospital in Vengadathanur.Sources said Prakash and his wife, Praveena, 29, were married for four years and had no children. He has been experiencing depression for the last two years and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Trichy. On Tuesday morning, he went to work as usual at the veterinary hospital. Around 11am, employees found him hanging in his room. He was immediately taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead. Thuraiyur police registered a case under Section 194 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) pertaining to unnatural death. Autopsy was conducted at Thuraiyur GH, after which the body was handed over to his family. Further investigation is underway.
