Trichy: The Thanjavur district administration unveiled mascots ‘Meyyan' and ‘Meyyal', the iconic Thanjavur dolls, on Friday to promote 100% voter turnout for the upcoming assembly elections.District election officer and district collector B Priyanka Pankajam led the event held under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme near the Big Temple. Officials distributed awareness pamphlets featuring messages such as "Young Voters, Vote and Be Proud" and "Voting is Your Right, Your Future" to the public on the temple premises. Voter awareness initiatives will be carried out in the district in the coming days. On Friday, a rangoli competition was organized with the theme "My India, My Vote – I am the Heart of Indian Democracy, a Citizen of Bharat".General observers Divesh Sehara, Keshvendra Kumar, Arun Kumar, and Charchit Gaur; expenditure observers Ashwani Kumar Singal, Sanjiv Kumar, C Somanna, and Hemanga Phukon; police observer Kumar Saurabh; superintendent of police R Rajaram; district revenue officer T Thiyagarajan; and assistant collector M Karthik Raja were present at the launch.
