Man beats brother to death in dispute over rent collection
Trichy: A 44-year-old man was beaten to death by his elder brother near Periyamilaguparai in Trichy on Tuesday night, after a dispute over collection of rent from their tenants.The deceased was identified as R Krishnamoorthy, a resident of Periyamilaguparai. According to police, Krishnamoorthy was unmarried. He and his elder brother R Palanisamy, 46, jointly owned a four-storeyed building. Palanisamy lived on the ground floor, and Krishnamoorthy on the first floor. They had leased out the remaining floors to tenants.A dispute had been brewing between the brothers over the collection and sharing of rent. On Tuesday around 9.30pm, an argument erupted between them. Palanisamy allegedly abused Krishnamoorthy and attacked him with a spade. Krishnamoorthy died on the spot due to the injuries.Sessions Court police arrested Palanisamy, and recovered Krishnamoorthy's body. The body was sent to Trichy government hospital for postmortem.On Wednesday, a case was registered based on a complaint filed by Krishnamoorthy's sister Selvi. Palanisamy was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
