Trichy: Mannargudi MLA S Kamaraj has said he extended support to chief minister C Joseph Vijay's govt during the assembly floor test after he was expelled from AMMK and he no longer needed to seek permission from anyone. Kamaraj also denied allegations that he was involved in horse trading."It is customary for representatives of various parties to congratulate the new govt. I too extended my congratulations to the chief minister," he told reporters at his office in Mannargudi on Monday. Kamaraj said he learned of his expulsion from AMMK only after he came out of the meeting with Vijay, as his mobile phones were left in his car. "I received information that I had been removed from the party. Therefore, I did not need to seek permission from anyone to cast my vote," he said.Kamaraj added that he then voted in favour of Vijay's govt. "When such an opportunity arose, since I was not in any party and had no restrictions, I extended my support to chief minister Joseph Vijay. I believe there is nothing wrong in this," he said. Asked about AMMK general secretary T T V Dhinakaran's statements that he would approach CBI, Kamaraj denied any involvement in horse trading. "There were no malpractices," he said.
