Association alleges delay in appointment of registrar, COE at BDU

Trichy: The Tamil Nadu govt college teachers' association alleged that there has been a deliberate delay in appointing the registrar, controller of examinations, and director of the centre for distance education, and sought the govt intervention to safeguard transparency and fairness.In a statement, president David Livingstone questioned the need to dissolve an earlier scrutinising committee and constitute a new one without any proper justification. Governor's nominee S Amudha had withdrawn from the panel and it was subsequently dissolved, he said. "Even in the absence of one nominee, the remaining members constituted a valid majority and could have continued the proceedings. A senior nominee could have been substituted immediately instead of dissolving the entire committee. No clear administrative or statutory reason has been communicated for such dissolution. This sudden decision has created serious concern among faculty members regarding transparency and procedural fairness," he said."It is learnt that a newly constituted scrutiny committee is scheduled to meet on Mar 3, which gives rise to apprehensions that the selection process is unnecessarily delayed," he added.
