19 cops including those on duty during Karur stampede transferred

Karur: The state govt has transferred 19 police personnel including officers who were on duty during the Karur stampede last year.Karur town deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Selvaraj has been posted to Tuticorin district, Kulithalai DSP Senthil Kumar has been transferred to Cuddalore district, and Aravakurichi DSP Abdul Ghafoor has been posted to Dharmapuri district. Ten police inspectors, including CID inspector Manivannan and Karur town inspector Arul Prakash, have also been transferred. In addition, five head constables and one sub-inspector have been shifted.Sources said many of the personnel transferred were part of the police force deployed during the stampede tragedy that occurred in Karur on Sept 27 last year.
