Jharkhand Electoral Rolls Update: Draft Publication & Unmapped Voter List Available August 5
Ranchi: State chief electoral officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar on Friday said the draft publication of electoral rolls under SIR, along with the list of absent, shifted, death and duplicate voters, will be shared with all recognised political parties, and will also be available on the CEO’s website.
While chairing a meeting with representatives of political parties at Nirvachan Sadan, he said the details will be published on Aug 5.
He said mapping of the current electoral rolls with previous one is underway and the list of all unmapped voters will be displayed at polling booths for two weeks from May 23. Unmapped voters should contact their respective BLOs, provide necessary information and get mapped. Kumar added that mapped voters will not be required to submit any additional documents under SIR.
The CEO said SIR is only for eligible Indian citizens and non-Indian citizens should not participate. "If any person makes a false declaration in this regard, they will be liable for action under the provisions of Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950," he added.
Kumar shared SIR processes through a PPT and urged parties to appoint BLAs at all polling booths so that training can be imparted from June 15. He also asked voters to visit polling centres from May 23 to check the unmapped voter list.
The CEO also appealed to all voters of Jharkhand to visit their respective polling centres from May 23 and check their names in the unmapped voter list. The people whose names appear in the list should contact their BLO to get their names mapped.
