Ranchi: CM Hemant Soren returned to Ranchi on Tuesday after his visit to Davos and the United Kingdom (London) to woo investments. He was accorded a grand welcome by party workers and members of the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) upon his arrival at Birsa Munda Airport in the evening. It was the first time a state delegation attended the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) meet in Davos .Briefly addressing the media outside the airport, Hemant said, “Jharkhand made a strong pitch to present itself as an ideal destination for investment. We have returned with valuable experience, which will help our govt take initiatives for the overall development of the state.”He added that people would witness changes across various sectors in the coming days . “There are many possibilities in Jharkhand, and it is our government’s priority to give concrete shape to all these opportunities,” he said.

However, the opposition BJP took a dig at the visit. BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said, “The CM’s foreign visit turned out to be more of a tourism trip than an investment mission. Jharkhand stands at the bottom when it comes to attracting investment. Old schemes were repackaged and presented as new MoUs to mislead the public.”
Soren claimed that five CMs represented India at Davos. “The Maharashtra govt signed investment MoUs worth approximately Rs 14–15 lakh crore at Davos. The Telangana govt secured concrete investment commitments of around Rs 29,000 crore. Other states also received firm investment commitments worth thousands of crores, but Jharkhand failed to secure even a single major new investment agreement,” he alleged.
