Dumka: The body of a man was recovered from a forest area under the jurisdiction of Shikaripara police station near Jabardaha village in Dumka district on Sunday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Ram Baski (45), a resident of Sarasdangal village under the limits of the same police station. The man has been missing since Friday, police said.
The officer in-charge (OC) of the Shikaripara police station, Amit Lakra, said, “The family members of the deceased said he had left home on September 5 but they did not lodge a missing complaint.”
“Villagers said they had spotted Ram along the roadside during a football match organised near the spot on Friday night and Saturday daytime. They spotted the body on Sunday and informed the police. The police sent it to the Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination,” he added.
“Preliminary invstigation reveals that Ram Baski was an alcoholic. He might have wandered into the Jabaradaha forest under the influence of alcohol. The exact cause of death would be ascertained after we receive the post-mortem report,” the OC said.
