19-Year-Old Arrested for Rape of 14-Year-Old in Khunti

Ranchi: A 19-year-old resident of Karra was arrested by Khunti district police on Friday on charges of raping a 14-year-old girl on May 5, police said on Saturday.“The girl had met the accused at a marriage function, where she had gone with her friends. She agreed to return home with the youth on his motorcycle on the advice of her friends. But the accused allegedly committed the crime on the way. The girl told her family members on Friday and a case was registered against the accused under the relevant sections of BNS and POCSO Act. The accused, a class 10 dropout, has confessed to his involvement in the crime,” SP Rishabha Garg said.
