‘Aaj meri jaan ka b’day hai,’ viral video shows girl visiting BF in Raipur jail, raises security concerns

Raipur: A social media video allegedly shot inside Raipur Central Jail has gone viral, triggering serious questions about prison security and visitor screening. In the clip, a girl, who appears to be a minor, says she has come to the jail to meet her boyfriend on his birthday. "Today is my 'jaan's birthday. I am sad I'm not with him, but let me see his reaction as I meet him," she says in the video, which has a location tag of Raipur Central Jail. The video, reportedly recorded in the jail's mulakat (meeting) room, shows the inmate posing with the visitor while she records the meeting on her mobile phone. The clip was later uploaded on social media and edited with the song "Tu Na Ja Mere Badshah" from Hindi movie Khuda Gawah. Mobile phones are strictly banned inside jail premises, especially in meeting areas, raising concerns over how the device was taken inside. The incident points to possible lapses in frisking, surveillance, or monitoring at prison entry points. Jail authorities have said the matter will be investigated and the authenticity of the video verified, though they have not confirmed when it was recorded. Sources identified the inmate as Tarkeshwar, who is lodged in the jail under the NDPS Act. This is not an isolated case. Earlier, videos allegedly shot inside the prison showing inmates exercising had also surfaced online, prompting questions about enforcement of jail rules and internal security.
