JAGDALPUR: A woman died and over 20 passengers sustained injuries after a private bus overturned on National Highway-30 in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district early on Monday morning.The bus was travelling from Raipur to Sukma when the accident took place within the limits of Bastar police station.More than 35 passengers were on board at the time of the incident.Preliminary investigation suggests that the driver may have fallen asleep, causing the vehicle to go out of control and overturn on the highway.According to officials, most passengers were asleep when the accident occurred.The deceased was identified as Padmani Chandravanshi, a resident of Kawardha. She was working as a teacher in the Dornapal area of Sukma district and died on the spot.Locals along with police personnel carried out rescue operations and helped pull out passengers trapped inside the overturned bus.The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals, where they are undergoing treatment.Police have registered a case and further investigation into the incident is underway.
