Man dies, friend injured after bike falls under truck

Pune: A 27-year-old man from Wagholi died and his woman friend sustained severe injuries after they fell off their motorcycle and came under the wheels of a truck. The accident happened on Tuesday evening near Manchar, about 65km from Pune. The Manchar police have identified the deceased as Hrishkesh Surve. His friend, who is the a student of an engineering college in Baramati taluka, sustained fractures to her left thigh. The police have registered a case of causing death by negligence.An officer from the Manchar police said that Surve was working at a builder's office in Pune. On Tuesday evening, he had gone to Manchar to meet his friend on his motorcycle. As the woman was in urgent need of reaching her home near Narayangaon, he decided to drop her there. When they reached Pimpalgaon Chowk, their motorcycle brushed against a sports utility vehicle (SUV). Due to which Surve lost his balance and both of them fell- off the road. "They came under the wheels of a truck coming from the opposite side. Surve died on the spot, while his friend sustained severe injuries," the officer said.
