Criminal elements raising heads in Baramati after administration’s lax attitude post Ajit Pawar’s demise: Rohit Pawar
Pune: NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar claimed on Wednesday that criminal elements were "raising their heads" in Baramati as the local administration has become lax following the demise of former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.Rohit met Pune rural superintendent of police (SP), Sandeep Gill, on Wednesday morning to submit a formal memorandum. In the letter, he demanded urgent action against anti-social elements operating within Baramati tehsil. He specifically highlighted a surge in drug peddling over the last few months and called for an immediate crackdown.Speaking to the media after the meeting, Rohit said, "When Ajit Dada was alive, he maintained a firm grip on the administration and ensured that anti-social elements were kept in check. However, following his unfortunate passing, that administrative control has loosened, and as a result, criminal elements are becoming active in Baramati once again."The MLA further alleged that illegal parties are being organized in the town where narcotics are being sold. "Drugs are being supplied to the youth, girls are facing harassment outside educational institutions, and local businessmen are being threatened. Such criminal activities were unheard of in Baramati when Ajit Pawar was alive," Rohit said. His remarks are being viewed as an indirect critique of Sunetra Pawar, who represents the Baramati assembly seat following the late leader's demise.
