A four-lane flyover stretching about 4km will be constructed from Indira Gandhi Square to Rajiv Gandhi Square and Marapalam, helping streamline traffic movement through some of Puducherry’s busiest junctions. (Representative image )

A 13.5-km four-lane arterial road will be laid from Ariyankuppam to Mullodai, significantly improving east-west connectivity and reducing pressure on existing city roads. (Representative image )

Existing roads leading up to Marapalam will be widened as part of the project, ensuring smoother traffic flow and better integration with the upcoming flyover and arterial road network. (Representative image )

The infrastructure projects will be implemented with financial support of Rs437 crore from the Union government, underlining Centre-backed efforts to modernise Puducherry’s transport system.

The lieutenant governor noted that Puducherry ranks second only to Toulouse in France in tourist preference, reinforcing the need for world-class infrastructure to match its global appeal.
