Patna: RJD national working president Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the NDA govt in the state over recent criminal incidents, describing the prevailing situation as “emergency-like”.
Targeting the NDA over a series of crimes against women, including the suspicious death of a medical aspirant in Patna and rape cases reported from Muzaffarpur, Nalanda and Gopalganj, Tejashwi said such incidents had exposed serious lapses in law and order. He also referred to the death of a final-year engineering student at a technical institute in Sitamarhi district, which has triggered protests across the state.

Citing what he described as a spate of crimes against women, the RJD leader said girls were unsafe in Bihar under the current dispensation.
“The daughters are completely unsafe under the NDA rule in Bihar,” Tejashwi wrote in a social media post on Tuesday. He added, “Samuche Bihar ke liye ye aapatkalin sthiti hai (This is an emergency situation for the entire Bihar).”
Alleging that criminals were enjoying the patronage of the ruling regime, Tejashwi said criminal incidents were taking place daily and described them as “unbearable, painful, terrifying and bone-chilling”.
He accused the NDA govt of being inactive and indifferent to the situation, claiming it had come to power “by hook and crook”. He said ministers and leaders of the ruling alliance should focus on governance, education, health and law and order instead of repeatedly targeting the opposition. “The govt needs to wake up and save the lives of daughters,” he demanded.
Tejashwi’s remarks mark a sharp shift from his earlier stance. After returning to Patna from a foreign tour earlier this month, he had announced that he would not target the NDA govt for 100 days. However, soon after being elected as the party’s national working president on Sunday, he resumed attacking the ruling alliance on multiple issues.
The RJD has also trained its guns on the healthcare system in the state, alleging that it is in the “ICU”. The party further accused the govt of overcharging farmers for fertilisers and chemicals, claiming that agrarian distress was being ignored.
The renewed offensive by the RJD comes at a time when law and order, women’s safety and governance have emerged as major political flashpoints in the state.
