PMC to complete road repair, water supply projects by June
Patna: Patna municipal commissioner Yashpal Meena on Tuesday asked officials and contractors to complete all localised road patchwork by May 31 and major road construction and restoration projects by June 10 ahead of the monsoon.Reviewing ongoing projects at the municipal corporation headquarters, Meena also instructed officials to complete all ongoing water supply projects by May 31, while works yet to begin must start immediately and finish by June 15.The civic body has started fortnightly reviews to monitor progress and coordinate infrastructure work before the rainy season.Officials and contractors said residents in some wards were opposing simultaneous road construction works. In response, PMC granted a 10-day extension for several major projects to maintain quality standards. Meena asked executive engineers and circle officers to engage with residents and explain the need for parallel works to avoid monsoon-related waterlogging.According to progress reports, Patliputra division has restored 12.90km out of its 32.21-km target, while New Capital Circle completed 10.36km of 21.20km.
Kankarbagh division finished 10.87km of 19.56km, and Patna City completed 3.80km of its 9.30-km target.Officials said 760 pipeline projects had been approved across the city, of which 348 were completed and work was under way on 28 projects. Out of 266 boring installation projects, 182 have been completed. To avoid duplication with agencies such as Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation and the road construction department, overlapping works have been de-scoped. Meena also ordered geo-tagging of all municipal road works and directed city engineer Bindu Rajak to conduct quality audits of completed roads.
