Patna: In the wake of the water contamination case in Indore, where the death toll rose to 10 on Friday, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) is on an alert mode.
To prevent a similar public health crisis, the municipal commissioner, Yashpal Meena, directed executive engineers, junior engineers of all circles, and officials of the water supply branch to conduct intensive site inspections and collect water samples for quality testing.

A few samples were collected and tests conducted at the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) laboratory. After the test, the PMC claimed on Saturday that the city’s water quality adhered to all prescribed safety standards.
The directives issued by the municipal commissioner necessitated a city-wide sample collection, especially in areas with old supply infrastructure. Officials from the water supply branch were seen collecting samples from various areas of Kankarbagh.
The PMC officials said regular surveys are being conducted to identify and change damaged pipelines. As part of the drive, officials interacted with residents to gather feedback.
Initial reports suggested a positive response, with no major complaints regarding water odour or discolouration. The PMC advised residents to report any technical leakages or sanitation issues immediately via the dedicated helpline number 155304.
