Patna: Jan Suraaj founder
Prashant Kishor has shifted to his newly-built Bihar Navnirman Ashram near IIT-Patna, saying he will stay there until there is a “change” in Bihar and the next assembly election is held in 2030.
Speaking to reporters in Darbhanga on Wednesday night, Prashant said he had given the new govt six months to bring improvement in the state, but claimed it had failed to meet people’s expectations.
“Last night, I shifted out of the place in Patna where I had been living. The Bihar Navnirman Ashram, situated close to IIT-Patna, shall be my abode till the next assembly polls when the Jan Suraaj Party will, hopefully, make an impact,” Prashant said.
“Jab tak Bihar mein badlao na ho, agla chunao na ho, wahin rahenge,” he added, saying he would continue to run party affairs from the ashram.
Prashant claimed that despite changes in govt, Bihar’s core problems remained unresolved.
“Sirf netayon ka chehra badla hai, samasyayen wahin ka wahin hain,” he said.
He also criticised CM Samrat Choudhary over the expansion of his official residence.
“Bihar is the poorest state in the country, but its CM lives in a 25-acre residence. Imagine the expenditure involved in maintaining its gardens,” he said.
Prashant launched Jan Suraaj ahead of the 2025
Bihar assembly elections. The party contested most of the 243 seats but failed to win any. It had earlier contested bypolls on four assembly seats but could not secure a victory there either.
