Nearly 1L qualify for Bihar Police constable physical efficiency test
PATNA: The results of the preliminary examination for the Bihar Police Constable Recruitment were declared on Friday. A total of 99,690 candidates — five times the number of available vacancies—qualified to appear for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
Among the successful candidates, 62,822 are male, 36,834 female (residents of Bihar), and 34 transgender persons. Additionally the list includes 867 Home Guard candidates and 622 dependents of freedom fighters. The recruitment drive aims to fill 19,838 constable positions.
The recruitment advertisement was released in March 2025, and 1,673,586 candidates submitted online applications. The written exam was conducted in six phases during July and August 2025, with 1,330,121 candidates appearing. However, 71 candidates were disqualified from evaluation due to discrepancies or incorrect information.
The PET is expected to begin in December 2025, and detailed instructions will be available on the official website. “Candidates are advised to rely only on the information published on the official website and not to trust any phone calls or private contacts. If someone claims to be a representative of the selection board and makes a phone call, candidates should immediately inform the nearest police station or cybercrime police station,” said chairman of Central Selection Board (Constable Recruitment), Jitendra Kumar.
The selection board has assured that the recruitment process will be transparent and fair. Candidates will be selected solely based on their merit and performance in the examination.
The Central Selection Board (Constable Recruitment), on the recommendation of the general administrative department, has also issued a notification for recruitment to 4,128 positions, including 1,603 positions for excise constable, 2,417 positions for court guard, and 108 positions for mobile squad constable. Online applications for this recruitment can be submitted from October 6 to November 5, 2025.
