Haryana Police arrests coaching institute owner of Patna arrested in Rs2.43cr cyber scam

Patna: In a major breakthrough against cyberfraud, Haryana Police arrested Sanjay Singh, operator of a coaching institute in Patna’s Pirbahore police station area, late on Friday evening. Singh is accused of defrauding people of Rs 2.43 crore through fake “digital arrests.”Police said the accused was part of a gang that tricks victims by posing as law enforcement officials online, pressuring them to transfer money to avoid supposed arrests. The arrest follows a digital arrest complaint filed at Rohtak police station in Haryana. A cyber cell team from Haryana travelled to Patna, apprehended Singh, and began interrogation.Initially, he denied involvement, but when confronted with his bank account transactions, he admitted he faced a severe financial crisis and had joined the scam out of necessity. He told police his role was primarily to collect the money.Mohd Sajjad, SHO of Pirbahore police station, said Sanjay, who operates a coaching institute to prepare candidates for competitive exams, was arrested by the Haryana cyber police for defrauding Rs 2.43 crore. “He is a resident of Sitamarhi and runs a coaching institute in Patna’s Bhikhna Pahadi area. He laundered money digitally,” the SHO added.He said, “Sanjay was interrogated and taken to Haryana on transit remand. Further investigation is being conducted by the cyber police in this case.”
