Shashi Tharoor Urges Segmented Marketing To Boost Diverse Tourism At Skål India Congress 2025

Speaking at the Skål India National Congress 2025 in Mumbai, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor called for a more targeted approach to boost tourism in India. He suggested moving beyond the single "Incredible India" narrative to promote specific segments like wildlife, beaches, heritage, and culture. Highlighting the absence of Chinese tourists in India, Tharoor remarked, “Let’s get some Chinese money into our country.” In a lighter vein, he joked, “Maybe even get some Brits to do a colonial tour—not that there are many monuments, they took more than they left.” His remarks added insight and humour to the tourism-focused conference.
