Gandhi Maidan-bound roads to remain closed from 7am on Jan 26
As Republic Day approaches, Patna is putting in place significant traffic limitations around Gandhi Maidan on January 26. Major thoroughfares like Fraser Road will be off-limits starting at 7 am. Travelers are urged to adjust their routes, follow detours, and work alongside traffic officers to ensure the celebration goes off without a hitch.
Patna: As preparations for the Republic Day celebrations gather pace, the Patna traffic police on Saturday issued a set of traffic regulations to ensure smooth vehicular movement and the peaceful conduct of the ceremony on Jan 26. The full-dress rehearsal of the Republic Day parade was held on the Gandhi Maidan premises where the state-level function will take place. All roads leading to Gandhi Maidan will remain closed to commuters from 7am till the programme concludes.According to the traffic plan, vehicular movement will be completely prohibited on Fraser Road from Dak Bungalow Square to Children Park near Gandhi Maidan. Entry from New Dak Bungalow Road to SP Verma Road will also be barred. All roads leading east from Kotwali T-point to Police Lines on Budh Marg will remain closed to general traffic. Vehicles coming from Voltas More will be redirected northwards via Vidyapati Marg or Budh Marg towards the Police Lines intersection.

Movement from Chhajjubag (near the SDO residence) towards T N Banerjee Road (JP Golambar) will be prohibited. Traffic will also be restricted from the Chhajjubag turn towards the SDO residence on Budh Marg.
Only vehicles with valid passes will be allowed to ply on the flank from J P Ganga Path towards A N Sinha Institute and Gandhi Maidan. Other vehicles approaching from Bans Ghat will be diverted towards Marine Drive from in front of the commissioner’s office.Private vehicles will be permitted to travel from Patna Junction along Fraser Road up to Dak Bungalow Square and then proceed eastwards via Bhattacharya Chowk and Peermuhani towards Nala Road. Any vehicles reaching Exhibition Road will be diverted back to Bhattacharya Chowk through the cutting located in front of a supermarket.The stretch from Dak Bungalow Chowk (Kaviguru Ravindra Chowk) to J P Golambar on Fraser Road will be reserved exclusively for the cavalcade of the Bihar Governor, chief minister, deputy chief minister, their family vehicles, and VVIP or special guests holding colour cards.Traffic SP Sagar Kumar said, “Additional routes, including from Rajendra Chowk to Mandal Golambar on Deshratna Marg, Mandal Golambar to Lalit Bhawan Underpass on Circular Road, Lalit Bhawan Underpass to Dak Bungalow Square on Bailey Road, and onwards from Dak Bungalow Square via Fraser Road to JP Golambar through Children Park to Kargil Chowk, will follow designated protocols to support smooth access for authorised personnel.The SP added, “Commuters are urged to plan their travel accordingly, adhere to diversions, and cooperate with traffic personnel to avoid inconvenience and ensure the successful observance of Republic Day at Gandhi Maidan.”
