Buxar: Buxar police achieved a major breakthrough with the arrest of Vijay Pandey, who was carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 and was listed among the district’s top-10 most wanted criminals. The arrest was confirmed by Dumraon sub-divisional police officer Polast Kumar on Sunday.
The DSP said Vijay Pandey, son of late Shiv Prasad Pandey, is a resident of Pokharha village under Bagen Gola police station in Buxar district. He was wanted in several serious cases, including murder, attempt to murder and violations under the Arms Act, registered at different police stations in the district. He had been absconding for a long time.
The DSP added that multiple arrest warrants had been issued against Pandey by the court in various cases. Acting on the directions of the superintendent of police, a special police team was constituted to nab him.
The team carried out continuous raids at his suspected hideouts using technical surveillance and human intelligence. To evade arrest, Pandey frequently changed locations. However, following sustained monitoring and coordinated efforts, the police team arrested him on Saturday from the Brahmapur police station area based on specific inputs.
