Nagar was the main accused in the murder of Nitin’s brother Vinay in 2024. He was granted bail in August last year and was due to appear in court for a hearing on Tuesday morning. However, when the deceased stepped out of his house to visit a friend , three men surrounded him, opened fire and then stabbed him multiple times. Family members and locals rushed Nagar to Kailash Hospital but he died during treatment.Police told TOI that Nagar and Vinay had a dispute over a contract to supply electricity to roadside stalls at night. “Nagar murdered Vinay to establish his supremacy. But ultimately, neither party got the contract,” said a senior officer.
Police believe Nitin began plotting Nagar’s murder when the latter got bail. After Nagar’s murder, his family members said the accused were aides of Nitin and Rajesh. Police then formed a team to nab them. Monu was arrested on Tuesday based on a tip-off that he was hiding in Puari. Rajesh and Nitin were nabbed from Gharbara Pusta on Wednesday by Ecotech-1 police. The accused face charges under sections 103(2) (murder), 109 (attempt to murder), 191(3) (rioting) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the BNS.
