Ghaziabad: Six days after dairy farm owner Omkar (44) was shot 5-6 times and abducted from Loni, his family and villagers pitched a tent near Ganauli village on Thursday and blocked the Chirori-Banthla road, accusing police of moving too slowly as the victim’s fate remains unknown.“We have no information on whether Omkar is alive or dead,” a relative said, as police struggle to trace the five named accused despite making multiple arrests.Omkar was attacked early on Saturday near the curve by Khadkhadi railway underpass. Police said 5-6 cartridge shells were recovered from the spot. The assailants allegedly forced the injured man into a white Swift and fled.Surendra, Omkar’s brother, linked the abduction to a road-rage dispute on May 20. “My nephew was in a Hyundai Santro. The accused were in a white Swift and hit his car. We filed a complaint at Loni police station, but the SHO questioned them and let them go. After my brother was abducted, the DCP suspended the SHO, but that won’t bring my brother back,” he said.According to Surendra, the dispute later went to a panchayat but remained unresolved.Recounting Saturday’s attack, Surendra named the accused as Gaurav, Saurabh alias Bhola, Gopal, another Gaurav, and Mohit. “They fired more than half a dozen shots from behind. When he collapsed, they bundled him into the Swift with an Uttarakhand number plate. Even now, we don’t know if he is alive,” he said.Surendra said the protest was against police inaction. “We have been demanding action against the accused. The chief minister talks of zero tolerance — then what about our case?” he said, alleging police were pressuring them to end the protest. An FIR has been registered under BNS sections 109 (attempt to murder), 140(3) (kidnapping/abduction to murder or for ransom), 3(5) (common intention) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy). A reward of Rs 50,000 each has been announced for the five absconding accused.DCP (rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari said police have arrested 17 relatives so far — four on Monday, two on Tuesday, and 11 others for allegedly sheltering the suspects. “Their phones are switched off and they have not contacted their families. We checked thousands of CCTV cameras but got no clue. Ten teams are working in this case. We have assured the family the main accused will be arrested soon,” he added.
