Nashik: The World Marathi Conference in Nashik concluded on Sunday with the programme ‘Folk Akhyan', which drew a huge crowd at the KTHM college premises.
People started thronging Gangapur Road from 4pm onwards owing to Sunday.
Due to the huge pile-up of vehicles on Gangapur Road, traffic moved at a snail's pace and traffic police faced a tough task in handling the situation. Police attempted to divert traffic by putting up barricades at many places, but the situation appeared to go out of control.
CP Sandeep Karnik arrived at the venue at around 5 pm to take stock of the situation. An hour later, all roads to the venue were closed for traffic. A huge police force was deployed, including four DCPs, six ACPs and over 20 PIs. The situation returned to normal around 9pm. —Santosh Sonwane
