Ambad police register case against resident for blocking road with wedding pandal
Nashik: Ambad police book resident for blocking road with wedding pandalThe Ambad police have registered a case against a resident for allegedly blocking a public road by erecting a pandal in front of his house for a wedding ceremony, disrupting vehicular movement in the area. The accused has been booked under BNS Sections 221 (obstructing a public servant), 223 (disobedience to an order promulgated by a public servant), and 285 (obstruction in a public way).According to the police, the violation came to light on May 2, around 10pm when a beat marshal on patrol noticed that the owner of a row house had put up a pandal that completely blocked the lane, preventing regular traffic movement.Officials said the action was initiated following a complaint received through the police commissioner's WhatsApp helpline, which has increasingly been used by citizens to report civic and law-and-order issues. The police noted that such instances are common, with many residents routinely setting up pandals for private functions, blocking roads for extended periods despite rules prohibiting such obstructions.Authorities also pointed out that, apart from road blockages, loud music during such events often causes inconvenience to students, the elderly and the unwell, especially during exam periods and late-night hours. The police reiterated the need for citizens to follow regulations and avoid causing inconvenience to the public, warning of strict action against violators.
