23-yr-old kills self amid dowry harassment
Nashik: A 23-year-old woman allegedly ended her life in Rahata taluka of Ahilyanagar district after reportedly being subjected to prolonged harassment by her husband and in-laws over a financial demand, police said on Wednesday.The deceased, identified as Priya Shubham Dhage, allegedly jumped into a well in Ekrukhe village on Tuesday night. According to police, she had been facing harassment since her marriage two years ago, with the conflict allegedly centering on a demand for Rs4 lakh.According to the police, the victim's parents filed an FIR alleging sustained abuse. The complaint stated, "Priya was subjected to continuous physical and mental harassment for the past two years. The conflict reportedly stemmed from a demand for the money, which her husband and in-laws insisted she bring from her parents to fund the construction of their house."Following the complaint and public outrage in the village, police arrested her husband Shubham Dhage, father-in-law Rajendra Dhage, and mother-in-law Pratibha Dhage, all residents of Kohale."All three accused residents of Kohale have been arrested by the police under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) including section 108 - abetment of suicide," said the police.
