IIIT-Nagpur’s CSE Branch Logs In 100% Placements
Nagpur: The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Nagpur (IIIT), is taking big strides in its placement rate, with new benchmarks set in maximum packages and average annual salaries secured by its students. For the 2024-25 academic session, the BTech Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) branch recorded 100% placements, with the highest package of 60 lakh.As per official data released by the institute, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) branch recorded 97% placement for the same academic session. ECE students secured offers up to 42.26 lakh per annum.The premier institution also reported strong average salary packages, with CSE students receiving average of 15.41 lakh annually and ECE students 14.19 lakh.IIIT-Nagpur was approved by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development in May 2015. Initially functioning from the Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) campus, the institute later shifted to its permanent 100-acre campus at Waranga near Nagpur.Data obtained through an RTI application filed by activist Sanjay Thul showed that during 2023-24 academic session, placement rates stood at 91.09% for CSE and 89% for ECE students.
The highest packages that year were 47 lakh for CSE students and 20 lakh for ECE students.The ongoing 2025-26 placement season also showed encouraging trends. So far, 30.25% of CSE students and 15.38% of ECE students have secured placements. Highest package offered in current cycle reached 32.6 lakh for CSE students and 80 lakh for ECE students. The average ECE salary package also increased to 19.11 lakh.The institute simultaneously focused on academic expansion. For the 2025-26 academic year, 619 students took admission against the approved intake of 648 seats. Faculty vacancies also reduced significantly. While 18 out of 53 sanctioned teaching posts were vacant in 2023-24, number of vacancies has now declined to eight. Additionally, the Board of Governors approved 47 new faculty positions, with recruitment expected after final approvals from the Union Finance Department and Ministry of Education.
