Allegations of mass voter deletion baseless: BJP

Mysuru: BJP spokesperson MG Mahesh on Wednesday dismissed allegations by KPCC spokesperson M Lakshmana over the purported deletion of 86 lakh voters from the state’s electoral rolls, calling the claims “false and misleading.”

Speaking to reporters at the BJP office in Mysuru, Mahesh accused the Congress leader of spreading misinformation and creating unnecessary fear among the public. He said the official election notification has not yet been issued and that the voter list mapping and revision process is still underway. Making allegations of large-scale voter deletion at this stage was irresponsible and politically motivated, he added.

Mahesh urged the state home department and the EC to take action against those spreading what he termed baseless claims that could disturb public peace.

Responding to allegations that nearly 60,000 voters were removed from the Narasimharaja Assembly constituency to target MLA Tanveer Sait politically, Mahesh questioned the authenticity of the figures. He said genuine Indian citizens need only provide proof that they or their parents were previously included in any voter list to ensure their names remain on the rolls.

He also clarified that the SIR is carried out by the State Election Commission under the supervision of the EC, and not by the central govt.

On the NEET paper leak issue, Mahesh said strict preventive measures would be put in place to avoid such incidents in the future.
