4 kids drown in C’magaluru pond

Chikkamagaluru: Four children, including a girl, died after they drowned in a pond in Chikkamagaluru's Araluguppe on Monday.The deceased are Abdul Rehaman, 9, Nayaz, 12, Madina Banu, 9, and Ahran, 8. Another boy Arman was rescued by locals. Banu is from Shivamogga, while the others were locals.According to Chikkamagaluru Rural police, the children visited the waterbody for swimming and playing with ducks. They drowned accidentally. The one who was rescued is being treated at the district hospital.All the bodies were shifted to the mortuary in the hospital. After postmortem and other formalities, the bodies will be handed over to the parents, a police officer said.Police, who have denied foul play, said the cause of death will be known after postmortem.
