Navi Mumbai: Irked by frequent power outages in Kamothe node of Navi Mumbai since Thursday, especially past midnight, a huge crowd of residents on Sunday staged a protest outside Kamothe police station against the MSEDCL authorities as the power supply got disconnected again at 11.30 pm on Saturday. The residents of Kamothe sector 35 and 36 demanded legal action against the concerned MSEDCL authorities. The agitated power consumers squatted on the street till 1.30 am and dispersed only after the power supply was restored as MSEDCL resolved the transformer failure problem. Although the power supply was resumed after two hours, it got disrupted again around 5 am and was restored after 30 minutes, the residents of sector 36 complained. Residents of Kharghar sector 19, 20 and Taloja Phase-2 in sectors 25, 26 and 27 too, are being inconvenienced by frequent power outage past midnight.MSEDCL’s Mamta Pandey said, “One of the major reasons for the overloading is the maximum use of air conditioners.”Kamothe residents of sector 36 were inconvenienced again by power outage on Sunday from 9.15 pm onwards, despite the MSEDCL officials claiming that the problem was resolved.
